A New Use For A Pumpkin

Every year we try to carve pumpkins for Halloween.  Well the week before Halloween was just crazy busy this year.  Lyndell,  Cordell, and Blake all got a stomach virus that lasted a couple of days.  Then there was football, soccer, flag football, and the weather got much cooler this week.  We just did not have time to get it done.  The first opportunity that we actually had to carve the pumpkins was on Sunday - Halloween day.  We had trick or treated and attended our church fall festival the night before.  Sunday morning, we went to church, ate lunch, and headed home.  I had planned to carve the pumpkins then.  Well, the boys had a different idea.  I was not too crazy about breaking tradition.  We have always tried to carve a pumpkin, but the boys are getting older.  Carving a pumpkin has lost some of the excitement.  Blake has not carved a pumpkin for the last several years.  Of course, the biggest thing is I need to remember that I am the mother of BOYS!
So, I let it go and they had a great time....
shooting the pumpkins with their bb guns!

Life Decisions

This morning, Ayden was up and moving better than he normally is.  (He is not a morning person.)  Anyways, he was sitting in the kitchen eating pancakes while I was packing Sutton's diaper bag.  When I started to fill the formula container, Ayden asked me how many scoops I was putting in there.  He said he wanted to know this so that when he had a wife, he would know how to take care of the baby, if she wanted a baby.

Our converstion went on from here about a lot of important life decisions.  Here is how it went...

A:  What do you do after you graduate from high school.
Me:  You go to college so you can get a good job and take care of your family.
A:  Well, what about a car?  How do you get a car?
Me:  You have to work and make money to buy a car.
A:  How will I get to work to make the money to buy a car if I don't have a car?

Wow, what a question!  So then I had to go into explaining credit!!

A:  Did this countertop cost money?
Me:  Yes
A:  Did this cabinet cost money?
Me:  Yes, everything costs money.  See you will need a good job.
A:  Momma, I'm just gonna live with ya'll.

Problem solved!

Some new friends

Spongebob the Lizard

Meet the newest pet....
His name is Spongebob.  The boys were knocking burr oak acorns out of our tree.  Unfortunately for Spongebob, they knocked him out too.  Then they caught him and created a habitat in a small aquarium.  We have now had him for several weeks.  He lives on my front porch.  The boys catch grasshoppers for him to eat.  If you look closely, you will see that he has a grasshopper in his mouth - that is a leg sticking out!
