Snow Fun

How Do You Do, Mr. Snowman?

Frosty the snowman was a jolly, happy soul with a fishing hat and a bristle block nose and 2 eyes made out of onion rings (from the play kitchen)!

We had school until 1:00 today, but we spent the rest of the day having snow much fun!  The boys built snowmen, threw snowballs, and made a few snow angels.  Then we made snow ice cream. Yummo!!

Family Bowling

Me, Lyndell, Blake, Cordell, Ayden, and Sutton went bowling today.  It was a lot of fun!  Blake smoked us all the first game.  Lyndell won the second.  I proved to be a pretty poor bowler. :(

The many stances of Cordell:

The floor sit....

The sideways sweep...
Lean to the side...
And if all else fails, jump up and down...

Maybe I should have tried it!

And now it is Ayden's turn!
The shoes...the lovely bowling shoes!  Ayden actually really liked them.  He asked me several times if he could please keep them.  Only Ayden!!

I actually had one picture of Blake (the unwilling photo subject).  While I was editing it, somehow I managed to lose it.  I guess the computer ate it.  Figures!

Saturday, February 13, 2010

This is one of those times that you reflect back.  I seem to remember saying that I would never let any of my kids suck their thumbs.  Well, I will have to retract that statement.  My baby sucks his thumb.  I have tried very hard to prevent it, but he loves his thumb.  I am still pulling his thumb out of his mouth and popping in a paci, but I am not sure that this is going to be a success.  He is a very determined little boy.  So for now, I take back what I said, I continue to pull that sweet little thumb out of his mouth, and I start to figure out ways to stop this habit in the future.  Yikes!

Three Months

Sutton is 3 months old today!  Time flies when you are having fun!!

Cordell's Basketball

Cordell is playing basketball.  This is his second year.  It is a bit chaotic, but he has a lot of fun.  All his games are at either 8:00 or 9:00 on Saturday mornings.  I finally managed to get there with both my camera and the card.  So here are some basketball pics!

Ryder

This is Ayden's best buddy, Ryder.  Ryder is a good little dog.  The boys just love him!  Ayden and Ryder had just finished an exhausting game of chase and were relaxing on the couch.  Ayden asked me to please take a picture of them.  Most of the time when I get out the camera, I have to hear the whining and moaning.  I usually wind up having to bribe them to give me just a few good pictures.  So, when I am actually asked to take a picture, I am thrilled.

So here they are  -  Ryder and Ayden.

Okay, so Ryder would rather not sit still for a picture!
We'll try again...

So he licks Ayden a few times.  Look at the joy in Ayden's face!
A little boy and his dog.

Finally, we get the perfect picture!

Oh, and by the way, can you guess what Ryder is - boy or girl?
You guessed it!
Can we have anything else in this house?  I am terribly outnumbered.  Even the dog is a boy!!!

Blake Turns Fifteen

Happy Fifteenth Birthday Blake!!

Birthday

Count the candles on this cake!

Did you get 15?  Me too.  It is just so hard to believe.  My oldest baby is 15 today.  It seems like just yesterday, he was a little boy.

We had a little birthday celebration tonight for Blake - family, cake, and presents.  This year he got money.  He would prefer to pick out his own things now.  As hard as it is to believe, he is actually 15.  He is a young man.  He is an amazing kid!  I am not just saying this because I am his mom.  Lots of people have told me this.  He is caring, considerate, and fun.  He is a great son and brother.  Even though he may fuss a bit with his little brothers, you could not ask for any better brother.  I love you Blake!  Happy 15th!!!!

A huge thanks goes out to Bonnie for this amazing cake.  It was beautiful and delicious!

Daily Fun

Sutton sitting - He loved it!

Long sleeves, shorts on backwards, tall baseball socks...
Let's just say...he picked out his own clothes!

Career Discussions

During my maternity leave, I have had a lot of time to spend with my Ayden and Sutton.  I am so enjoying these days together.  I am beginning to dread that day in February that I must go back to work.  I love my job and the kids I get the opportunity to work with, but I just hate to miss some of the little everyday things that me and the kids have been sharing over the last few months.  The good thing is that it will only be a few weeks after I go back when we have spring break.  Then it won't be much longer until summer break!

One thing for sure, there is never a dull moment around our house!!  Yesterday, Ayden was playing Wii Carnival.  This is one of his favorite games.  This is the conversation that followed.

Ayden:  Mom, I don't want to be a man that flies airplanes when I grow up anymore.
Mom:  Really, why not?
Ayden:  Because I want to be a carnival man!!

Wow!  His aspirations have gone down a notch or two.  Probably a year or more ago, Ayden had told me that when he got big, he would take me for a ride in his trash truck.  I was okay with that, because I decided maybe he would own the truck and the company rather than just driving the truck.

At Christmas, the trash truck driver gave all the kids at MeeMaw's suckers one day.  How many people can say that they got suckers from the trash man?  How many people would want suckers from the trash man?  LOL!!  Now you have to understand the relationship here.  Every week, on trash day, the kids sit outside on the porch to watch the trash truck.  That is something Ayden just loves!  I guess the driver had just seen them so many times that he decided to do something for them.  Ayden was beaming and could not wait to tell me this story when I picked him up that day.  I love the way such little things can totally delight little ones - such simple pleasures!

Well, a few weeks ago, we were again talking about jobs.  At this time, Ayden decided that he wanted to drive jets when he got big.  I told him that would be awesome!  I would love to ride in his jet.

Well now he has moved on to the idea of being a carnival man.  Well, I just hope he is happy!

Sutton's 2 Month Checkup

Sutton had his 2 month doctor visit today.  He is growing, growing, growing!!!  He weighed 14 pounds and was 24 inches long.  He is healthy and handsome as ever!  Of course, he also had to get his first set of immunizations.   That was no fun at all.  I always hate having to do that to them, but I know it is something that has to be done.  He only cried for about a minute, and he had already fallen asleep by the time I got him buckled in and ready to leave the office.  I think sometimes those shots are harder on us parents than the kids.
