Daily Fun

Sutton sitting - He loved it!

Long sleeves, shorts on backwards, tall baseball socks...
Let's just say...he picked out his own clothes!

Career Discussions

During my maternity leave, I have had a lot of time to spend with my Ayden and Sutton.  I am so enjoying these days together.  I am beginning to dread that day in February that I must go back to work.  I love my job and the kids I get the opportunity to work with, but I just hate to miss some of the little everyday things that me and the kids have been sharing over the last few months.  The good thing is that it will only be a few weeks after I go back when we have spring break.  Then it won't be much longer until summer break!

One thing for sure, there is never a dull moment around our house!!  Yesterday, Ayden was playing Wii Carnival.  This is one of his favorite games.  This is the conversation that followed.

Ayden:  Mom, I don't want to be a man that flies airplanes when I grow up anymore.
Mom:  Really, why not?
Ayden:  Because I want to be a carnival man!!

Wow!  His aspirations have gone down a notch or two.  Probably a year or more ago, Ayden had told me that when he got big, he would take me for a ride in his trash truck.  I was okay with that, because I decided maybe he would own the truck and the company rather than just driving the truck.

At Christmas, the trash truck driver gave all the kids at MeeMaw's suckers one day.  How many people can say that they got suckers from the trash man?  How many people would want suckers from the trash man?  LOL!!  Now you have to understand the relationship here.  Every week, on trash day, the kids sit outside on the porch to watch the trash truck.  That is something Ayden just loves!  I guess the driver had just seen them so many times that he decided to do something for them.  Ayden was beaming and could not wait to tell me this story when I picked him up that day.  I love the way such little things can totally delight little ones - such simple pleasures!

Well, a few weeks ago, we were again talking about jobs.  At this time, Ayden decided that he wanted to drive jets when he got big.  I told him that would be awesome!  I would love to ride in his jet.

Well now he has moved on to the idea of being a carnival man.  Well, I just hope he is happy!

Sutton's 2 Month Checkup

Sutton had his 2 month doctor visit today.  He is growing, growing, growing!!!  He weighed 14 pounds and was 24 inches long.  He is healthy and handsome as ever!  Of course, he also had to get his first set of immunizations.   That was no fun at all.  I always hate having to do that to them, but I know it is something that has to be done.  He only cried for about a minute, and he had already fallen asleep by the time I got him buckled in and ready to leave the office.  I think sometimes those shots are harder on us parents than the kids.

Another Year Gone By

Another year has come and gone.  Today is New Year's Eve, the last day of 2009.  It has been a great year.  Our family has been very blessed this year.

*Blake is 14 and a freshman in high school.  He loves football, basketball, baseball, and track.

*Cordell is 7 and a second grader.  He loves to hunt and fish.  He also enjoys playing baseball, basketball, and soccer.

*Ayden is 4.  He is mischevious and always into something, but he is also a bundle of fun.  He is so full of personality.  He loves any type of sports, playing outside, and riding his bike.

*Sutton is 8 weeks old.  He was a precious addition to our family this year.  He is a very good baby.  He loves to eat, sleep, and watch his bears mobile or a ceiling fan.

Santa Came!

The boys all got bikes for Christmas this year from Santa.  It is 2:00 now, and Ayden has hardly been off of his all day.  It is still very cold and wet outside from yesterday's snow.  It is beginning to melt, but not enough yet to get outside with the bikes.  Cordell rode his around the house a little bit too, but his and Blake's are just a little bit big for indoors.  We are looking forward to this summer at the lake house when we can all go bike riding.  We will have to get a carrier for Sutton.  Cordell and Ayden got bristle blocks, a bug game, DS games (Mario and Zelda), camouflauge shirts, bug bracelets, an alarm clock, an ant farm, and Webkinz (Cordell's is a moose, Ayden's is a puppy).  They also got lots of candy, gloves, underwear, socks, and flashlights in their stockings.  Ayden loves the gloves!  Blake got a new phone that he had been anxiously awaiting since his got run over back during the summer and a Wii fishing game.  He also got underwear, socks, a flashlight, and lots of candy.  Sutton got a lights, motion, and music soother to go on his crib, a mirror that plays music and fits in the car, linking rings, some new clothes (one camouflage), bottles, pacifiers, and a couple of soft books.  We had a great Christmas!

Sutton's conclusion after his first Christmas is, "Christmas is just exhausting!"

Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve, and it is a tradition to read The Night Before Christmas at our house.  Usually Blake reads it to the little boys, but he is gone to Randall and Kate's tonight for another Christmas.  He will be back too late for the boys to wait up.  They wanted to go to bed at 6:00, because they were worried that Santa would not stop.  Maybe Santa should come more often!  Anyways, Cordell took over the task and read the book to his 2 little brothers this year.  He has gotten to be such a good reader.
Only one more sleep till Christmas!!!

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Yesterday it was 74 degrees.  Today it is 26 degrees.  Only in Texas, will you see weather like this.  I dressed Sutton in his warm clothes, so he could go out for just a minute.  This is his very first snow!  It had just begun to snow then, but it was a cold and windy blowing snow.

By this time, there was getting to be a lot more snow.
SNOWBALLS!

After a while, the boys came in.  I told them to stay in for a while.  They were getting way too cold.  Ayden was so worried that they were going to miss the fun.  He told me that he prayed to God that the snow would not melt before his momma let him go back outside.  Too sweet!

JoAnn, Wayland, and Thomas came by for a while.  Thomas helped the boys build a small snowman.  They were so excited!  His first hat blew away.  Ayden chased it down once, but the next time it was uncatchable.  The wind caught it and blew it through the fence, across the pasture, and out to the road.  Baby it is cold outside!!  That wind and the dampness were just too much.  I had 2 little cold snowboys when they got back in the house.

                   Frosty                                 Warm Up Time!
Ayden said he needed hot chocolate because it was so very very cold outside.  He needed something very very warm inside.

Granny's Christmas

We had Granny's Christmas this year at my house.  Everybody had a great time.  There was lots and lots of food, many games of pool and basketball, and baby holding going on!

Blake & Thomas thought they would be funny.  They did not want their picture taken.  We took it anyways! LOL!
