Well, Santa brought something that I never would have planned to have in my house. However, we have been told that fancy rats make excellent pets. I was a bit skeptical. Who would want a rat in their house? I think the tail is what gets me. Christmas morning, there they sat. I am now convinced, they do make excellent pets.
Meet Pip (Cordell's) and Squeaks (Ayden's)...
These pictures say it all.
These 2 rats are the boys' new best friends. The poor little things don't spend very much time in their cage. Cordell and Ayden are so proud that they have taught them to crawl back in their cage when they set them down by the door. I don't know if that is really a trick or the rats thanking their lucky stars that they get a rest.
Mr. Squeaks managed to get away from me. I was sitting in the recliner, and Ayden sat him in my lap while I was helping him with something. The next thing I know, Squeaks is nowhere to be found. We start tearing apart the living room (me because I didn't want him loose in the house and Ayden because he loves him that much). After searching frantically for what seemed like a long time (it really was not), I look over to see Ayden in the floor completely dissolved to tears. There are tears literally dripping from his face. This is when I realize the bond that these 2 have already made. Well, to make this long story short, we finally found Squeaks. He had crawled into the back of the recliner.
Whew! The things we do for our kids.
